How We Grow

GROWING BEYOND BOUNDARIES

Sustainability

an integral part of how we grow

Sustainability is at the core of our farming practices at Greenhouse Delight Foods. We are dedicated to conserving resources, reducing our environmental footprint, and maintaining a well-balanced ecosystem. Our climate-controlled growing environment allows us to grow year-round in a resource-efficient way. In addition, we have implemented a water-based cultivation system, integrated pest management system and water reuse and recirculation system to further strengthen our sustainable greenhouse operation.

Hydroponics

water-based cultivation system

Our hydroponic system harnesses water, rather than soil, for cultivating our bell peppers. This innovative method delivers a host of benefits, including precise control over temperature, humidity, and nutrient levels. It also substantially reduces water consumption in comparison to traditional farming, allowing us to conserve resources. With year-round production capabilities, we diminish the reliance on seasonal imports, ensuring a consistent supply of top-quality bell peppers.

a brighter future for all

At Greenhouse Delight Foods, sustainability and hydroponics work hand in hand to produce top-quality bell peppers while nurturing the environment. Our hydroponic system ensures that we can grow bell peppers of superior taste and quality, meeting and exceeding Canada's strict food standards. Through our commitment to delivering fresh and eco-conscious produce, we are doing our part to ensure a brighter future for all.

Integrated Pest Management

We are dedicated to sustainable pest control practices through an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) System, which harnesses beneficial insects to combat pests within our controlled greenhouse environment. Ladybugs and other beneficial insects ensure that every vegetable we grow is protected from unwanted pests. This approach significantly reduces our reliance on pesticides, promoting a healthier and safer environment within our facilities while ensuring the cultivation of the healthiest bell peppers possible.

Our IPM program includes:

  1. Identifying potential pest issues.
  2. Monitoring pest populations.
  3. Reducing pest populations.
  4. Evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
  5. Prioritizing natural pest control and avoiding chemicals wherever possible.
